Day1

Arrival at Minsk International airport (MSQ).
Meeting each traveler who arrives at this day.

Welcome dinner in Belarusian restaurant – it’s time for getting to know each other, discussing the program of the next days in Ukraine that will be spent together!
Now you are a part of JC Travel team :)

Day2

Breakfast.
After breakfast, it’s time to find out more about Minsk: from the moment of foundation till nowadays.

Touring Minsk – you will see the architectural monuments of the 17th – 20th centuries which are the Upper Town with the City Hall, the temples and monasteries, and of course Independence Avenue and Victory Avenue which are the main avenues. Then we will see «The Isle of Tears» with a famous monument, the chapel that commemorates soldiers who died far away from their Motherland. We will visit the Victory Monument and the National Library which were included into the list of the most remarkable buildings in the world!

After lunch we drive to the Dudutki museum –

the open-air museum of folk architecture. You will visit a museum of national crafts, will see windmills and potters at work. The Dudutki Museum has become the symbol of Belarus and its culture; you will get the idea of the traditional village life.

Day3

Check-out after breakfast. We drive to Mir Castle Complex (UNESCO site).

Mir Castle was founded in the early 16th century, and it was quite an expensive residence for those times. The castle was rebuilt into a magnate palace when the new hosts, the Radziwills, took over the place. It became luxurious apartments of the noble family that were filled with works of art. Further wars and decades of neglect caused the complete destruction of the castle by the end of WWII. When it was included into UNESCO World Heritage List, Mir Castle was restored and a part of its former luxury was open for the visitors.

Day4

Breakfast.

In the morning we explore Brest which is considered to be the “western gate” of the country. We will visit the Brest Fortress – the greatest sight in the city. You will find out how the history of this fortress started including the history of the city itself. In the end of the WWII the fortress wasn’t rebuilt, and instead it became a shrine to all terrible and heroic events which happened there.

Day5

Lviv… Lviv is indeed the Western Pearl of Ukraine. So ancient, so unbelievably charming!
We will start exploring this city by learning its history and legends from medieval times and the moment of the foundation. Will see the architecture of Rynok Square, typical Austrian streets as well as faceless Soviet-era buildings and modern dwellings. Together they narrate Lviv’s glorious history.
Highlights of this tour include visits to the Opera House, built in the classical tradition with Neo-Renaissance details; the High Castle Hill, where a castle once stood during the 1300s to the 1600s to protect the residents of Lviv during attacks, the hill now offers the best views of the city; the former Austrian casino, presently called “The House of Scientists”. The casino was a meeting place for the aristocratic elite; St. George’s Cathedral is a great example of rococo architecture and was built between 1744-1760. Today St. George’s Cathedral is the main Greek-Catholic church. Also, you will walk around the Medieval part of Lviv – the Market Square and old quarters around it.
We’ll visit the Shevchenkivsky Gay – the Museum of folk architecture and rural life. You will see the wooden folk architecture, everyday life artifacts, art artifacts from all ethnographic zones. Every zone consists of different objects – buildings, practical and manufactory buildings from last three centuries. The museum is one of the biggest open-air museums in Europe nowadays!

You will have lunch in the unique place… the Museum of Ideas – a place where Lviv bohemia meets up on a daily basis. Perhaps to get inspired for new ideas?

Day6

Breakfast.
Continue touring Lviv.
Lviv from Soviet Times till nowadays.

During the second day of your visit, you’ll get to know Lviv from a different perspective. You’ll learn about the history of the city during the years of WWII and its life afterward. As part of Soviet Union the city has acquired a totally different look in terms of architecture and lifestyle. During the tour, you’ll visit a former Soviet prison, see the giant Monument of Glory, visit an exhibition of Soviet military rockets, tour a museum dedicated to the Soviet Army, and visit the Hill of Glory – the burial place of Soviet soldiers.
You’ll have an opportunity to visit Pidzamche region – the city’s oldest industrial district as well as take a look at Lviv’s biggest residential area, which serves as an example of Soviet-era architecture. Also, you’ll visit Lviv’s biggest flea market for a chance to purchase old books, medals, and coins.

At the end of the tour, you’ll have a chance to taste local infusions with some traditional Ukrainian snacks.

Day7

Breakfast.

Today is the day when you will be involved in learning about life and traditions of Hutsuls.
We are visiting Vorokhta village, where you will see arch bridges (viaducts), which played an important transport role many centuries ago.
We continue to Verhovyna village, which is considered to be the capital of Hutsuls! We are visiting the unique museum – Museum of Hutsul Everyday Life and musical instruments, where you will find out about traditions, culture, songs, and regular life of the people.
Also visiting the museum of Galinky Verhovynky called “Vyshyvanka”. This is the right place to listen about Ukrainian embroidery and its different meanings which will be told by a hospitable owner of this private museum. You will see exquisite, original, old clothing which is sharing the warmth and the mystery of human life in this mountainous region.

Then we continue to Bukovel – the famous and fancy resort of Ukrainian Carpathians. Leisure time and taking a cableway to the top of the mountain to enjoy a nice view of the whole resort.

Day8

Check-out after breakfast. We drive to Kamianets-Podilskyi with sightseeing on the way.
Optional – Jeep tour to the top of the mountains – for those who wish to discover more and enjoy traveling to the peaks, ridges, plains to see a panorama of the breathtaking view from the top. Jeep tour is combined with walking and climbing. Powerful cars will let you feel a bit of extreme!

Continue to Yaremche.

Yaremche is a pearl of Carpathians! The town is located on the rocky river bank. Yaremche will allow plunging into the world of natural beauty and Hutsul “flavor” which can be found only in the Carpathians! You will see the famous Probiy waterfall (the “voice” of which is compared to “voice” of Niagara waterfall!!) and will visit one of the biggest souvenir markets. That will be the right spot to buy lots of souvenirs since they are one of the cheapest in Ukraine!

After lunch, we drive to Chernivtsi in order to explore this real European city!

You will discover the history of Chernivtsi which is situated on the spot where the roads from Europe and Asia cross each other. It’s a tiny capital of Europe, where Sunday began with Shubert to end with a duel, where the pavement was swept with bouquets of roses and one could find more bookstalls than taverns. And of course we will visit the heart of the city – National University!

Day9

Breakfast.
And now it’s a great opportunity for a walking tour around the old historical part of the city.

Why does this city seem to be a phenomenon of the cultural and historical importance? The tour will be full of mystery. From the moment of town foundation till recent times. The highlight will for sure be a visit to the Kamianets-Podilskyi fortress! It will open a unique beauty and will let you feel courage of the former fortification city and the deep history.
Then after lunch, we continue to Khotyn town for exploring Khotyn fortress, which was founded in the 13th century and had Moldavian, Polish and Turkish influence.

Tired but happy we are back to the hotel.

Day10

We drive to Chisinau, Moldova. Crossing the border.
Lunch on the way.
Arrive to the city, check-in to a hotel. And now it’s time to discover the capital of Moldova.

During the tour of Chisinau, you will see both the historic and the modern faces of the city. Who Stephen the Great was and what he did for the city? You will listen to the cultural, historical facts and legends, we will walk along the central part of the city. Will see National Theatre M. Eminescu, the Organ Hall, Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Well-known architects and poets such as Bernardazzi, Sciusev and Pushkin gave Chisinau a unique character.

Day11

Breakfast.
Check-out.

In the morning we are going to explore the Cricova Winery. It is Moldova’s premier winery and one of Europe’s biggest. Wine tasting 4 types of wine.

Continue our tour to Transnistria.

Sightseeing in Tiraspol – Back in USSR: Feel the atmosphere of this disputed territory which always has been a battlefield between the major powers of the region. The buildings of the Soviets, the monument of Suvorov and Vladimir Ilich Lenin. The city seems to be behind the times. At the same time, it is full of contrasts.

After the tour, we drive to Odessa.

Day12

Breakfast in the hotel.

This morning the tour of Odessa will take you to the ancient times when the city was founded. You will listen the stories about important people and what they did for Odessa and its citizens. You will see all the main sights in the central part, and will learn a lot about the Southern pearl of Ukraine and its current life.
You will walk through age-old streets: Deribasovskaya, Pushkinskaya, Rishelievskaya and Landzheronovskaya. You will see masterpieces of architecture – Opera and Ballet Theatre, and also historical buildings, where the archeological and marine museums are situated. We will stroll along the Primorsky Boulvard and will see an ancient building of municipal Duma, count Vorontsov palace with colonnades, the monument to Duke de Richelieu and the famous Potemkin stairs!

Then after lunch, we continue to Odessa Catacombs.

Catacombs are underground labyrinths created during the period of the city construction over 200 years ago. They are situated mainly in Nerubaiskoe village (15 km from Odessa), originally created during mining of hardware materials as shell rock that were used to build the city. Odessa Catacombs are one of the longest in the world and played an important role during the WWII as a shelter for the partisans.

Day13

Breakfast and check-out.

We drive to Kyiv with a stop on the way: visiting a Cold War era nuclear missile base. We’ll travel back to the USSR! We head off to visit that rarest of things, a Cold War era nuclear missile base. Once top secret, the base is today a museum and you can experience a bit of what it was like to serve here. You’ll walk down a 150 meter long underground corridor and take a lift 12 floors down to the “Red” button of the Unified Launch Control Center… where you can sit in the hot seat and push that once fateful button.

Day14

Breakfast.

After a good breakfast, it’s time to find out about the history of Kyivan Rus.
Did you know that within 9th till 12th century Kyiv was the capital of a very prosperous state which was a motherland for Slavs? This state was named Kyivan Rus and we start the tour from Kyivan Rus the open air museum. You will be taken to the ancient times! It is a whole different world you can visit! Ancient Kyiv in “The Kyivan Rus Park” is a unique reconstruction of one of the most famous and at the same time the most mysterious medieval city of the Eastern Europe – Ancient Kyiv of the V-XIII centuries, the capital of the greatest country – Kyivan Rus. You will feel what it’s like to be in person as a part of Ancient Kyiv – the source of culture and nationhood of Ukraine in particularly and countries of Easter Europe in general, the cradle of one of ancient world civilizations that played the key part in the development of humanity!

Then we continue: having lunch in a Ukrainian restaurant where you will have an opportunity not only to taste Ukrainian dishes but also to make them! Challenge yourself in making Ukrainian best dishes!
After lunch, we continue exploring Kyiv!

During the tour, you will see the Golden Gates and a very special place named Kyiv Acropolis. This is a place where different epochs and religion meet. You will see ruins of the palace of princes Olga – holy person for Ukrainians together with totem and a temple. Paganism and orthodox, superstitions and believes all this will make a deep impact on you. We will find out the secret of St. Andrew church and you will discover magnificent style of Ukrainian Icons as a unique world phenomenon. You will enjoy holly spirit of the city by visit Saint Sophia Cathedral and you will be impressed by wisdom of Slavic princes and beautiful history of Slavs as a nation!

And now you have some free time to have a rest.

Breakfast.
Today you will learn about Kyiv and Ukraine through centuries to prosperous future!

Ukraine has lots of interesting facts from the world history and lots of them start from Kyiv. During this tour, we will learn about the main place to start revolutions, the united spirit of Ukrainians who did not quit to suppress Soviet Regime and managed to survive as a nation with beautiful traditions and customs. We will see the administrative buildings which play the main role in the life of Ukrainians. We will learn about ambitions of politicians and its effect on the architecture of the city. Kyiv from Soviet times till nowadays. Maidan, Kherschatyk, Motherland Statue, Arch of Friendship.

Time for lunch is set during the tour, and there a surprise will be waiting for you: tasting of something that is “made in Ukraine»
