Tour starts from Sevastopol.

09:00-19:00 Walking tour along Sevastopol’s promenade and on central square – Nakhimov’s square.

Boating around harbour, close look at Russian and Ukrainian navy – optional.

Panorama – museum of Crimean war (1854-56)

Located on an inlet of the Black Sea, the city is today a naval base and seaport with a reach history that lists some 400 monuments and sites. For many with a particular interest in the Crimean campaign a highlight of the tour is likely to be the time spent at the Panorama Museum. An evocative 360-degree painting merges into a relief model vividly capturing the siege by the British, French & Turks & defense of Sebastopol in 1854-55.

Continue to the ruins of Chersonesus, a Greek colony founded in 422BC. Later it passed into Roman, Byzantine and Genoese control and it was from here, considered to be the birthplace of the Russian Orthodox Church, that the Christian faith began to spread all over Ukraine. Some 40% of the 32 hectare site has been excavated to reveal the old port area, the theater, the mint for copper and silver and the site of the main square in the inland part of the city.

Drive to Balaklava (20 km), lunch in a fish restaurant.

After lunch a visit to the former soviet super secret submarine base. Underground military factory, now museum. Look at Chembalo – Genoese fortress. Boating along the cost – optional.

  1. I had the pleasure of travelling to Crimea with Julia Kulik’s company JC-Travel. Everything exceeded my expectations. I decided to travel at the last second and despite it being a holiday, Julia answered my emails immediately, and was very helpful in explaining the costs. Her fast, friendly and helpful responses were really fantastic and the trip went perfectly.
My driver/guide was very friendly and helpful and went out of his way to show my things that were related to my area of interest. No task was too great and everything was done in a flexible, fun and engaging manner. In short, I recommend JC-Travel for any travel anywhere in Ukraine. You will simply not find better, more reliable service. Ukraine is lucky to have such a team representing it to foreign visitors. If you are in any doubt about visiting Ukraine, or using Julia’s services, please don’t worry. It’s one of Europe’s most fascinating countries and with Julia you are in good hands.
